‘Reverdie’ by Zonia Anwaar was a contrast between the unassailable power of textile and defiant finesse in silhouettes, celebrating the beginning of spring in full bloom. Breezy, fresh and deliciously feminine, soft structures with digital botanical brilliance brought a cheerful riot of colour in bursts of meander to mint blues and rich greens joined by subtler hues of opulent pinks. Summer jackets, print tunics and contrary separates were the highlights of this collection, along with some spot-on fashion trends by Zonia Anwaar.
IMAGE – THE RETURN
The age-old brand Image brought a desire to revive traditional gota work with ‘The Return’. The collection featured a play of modern silhouettes using traditional gota work and showcased a preview of the brand’s upcoming luxury pret line for the high street.
Image has completed 25 years in the industry, evolving from being luxurious fabric creators to now being an iconic high street fashion brand. Signature Chikanakri embroideries using luxurious fabrics going a few notches higher to glam up the otherwise everyday look into outfits wearable for dressier occasions!
SUBLIME BY SARA – The Sublime Sunset SS 2019
The Sublime Sunset SS 2019 collection is inspired by the one thing that truly fills my heart with joy and awe. The Sun that sets every single day in all its glory with the most gorgeous breathtaking hues. It fascinates me and makes me think and believe that “Sunsets are proof that no matter what happens. Every day can end beautifully”.
The silhouettes are fluid with a strong emphasis on drape and texture. The Sublime Sunset colour has forever been a part of my life and I wanted to translate it into my love for design and sunsets.
NEELO ALLAWALA
Neelo Allawala followed with an evening wear collection with chic and modern designed pants and lightly worked tops. The diversity and classic style of the ensembles make them wearable throughout the year, suited to the summer or fall climate alike as modelled by her showstopper Sarwat Gillani.
U&I by UMER and IMRANA – Living Traditions
Umer and Imrana’s runway debut brought ‘Living Traditions’, a conscious attempt to highlight the multi-faceted handloom tradition of Pakistan and its potential for mainstream fashion garments for men and women. Drawing inspiration from the classic kurta, shalwar and angarkha, this maiden collection was fashioned with contemporary silhouettes for the woman of today.
MONA IMRAN – Bejewelled

RIZWAN BEYG – ‘Pearlessence’ – from rural to runway ‘Changing lives … one stitch at a time.’
Rizwan Beyg presented ‘Pearlessence’, a collection that paid ode to the three decades that the designer completes this year in the fashion industry. A retinue of assorted pearls with dainty thread embroideries dominated the collection, with the embellishments handcrafted by artisans living in Southern Punjab, working under the umbrella of BUNYAAD, a project founded by Rizwan, which is dedicated to ‘Changing lives… one stitch at a time’. The embroideries were splayed out on a monochromatic ivory canvas, with silhouettes flitting between tradition and modernity; lehngas, fitted bodices splaying downwards into mermaid skirts, hybrids of the trouser, the eternally classy kurta and the exquisitely tailored button-down shirt with oversized pockets. Pakistan’s latest music sensation Asim Azhar walked as a showstopper for the master couturier.
JHIRKI – BLOCK PRINTS BY WARDHA SALEEM
The House of Wardha Saleem brought the launch of their new label, ‘JHIRKI’, an initiative to revive the antiquated crafts and techniques of the sub-continent with special focus on hand-wood block printing. Natasha Kamal – Lilium
Natasha Kamal’s ‘Lilium’ showcased a playful take on lilies through a series of different fabrications and techniques. The designer has drawn reference from its asymmetrical imagery and vast array of hues. Finding modernity and fluidity in still florals, the prints are an abstract interpretation of the canna lily in Georgia O’Keeffe’s famous water colour paintings. This is reflected in the feminine silhouettes that are soft in structure.
