Dolphins Eye Glory in Champions T20 Cup Under Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Leadership

With the  Champions T20 Cup set to kick off on December 7 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the Dolphins, led by cricket veteran Sarfaraz Ahmed, are poised to bring their A-game. The event, designed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), aims to sharpen domestic talent, offering a platform for players to imbibe the aggressive and dynamic style of international T20 cricket.

For Sarfaraz, who boasts an impressive win ratio of 78.37% as Pakistan’s T20I captain, the tournament is more than just about clinching victories. “This is an opportunity for players to develop, to embrace a robust and fearless brand of cricket,” he stated, echoing his focus on process over results.

A Squad with Depth and Flair
The  Dolphins’ lineup reflects a strategic blend of youth and experience, with players like Saud Shakeel anchoring the batting lineup and power hitters Asif Ali and Faheem Ashraf ensuring a fiery finish. Fast bowler Ihsanullah, the standout player of the HBL Pakistan Super League 2023, is also expected to bolster the team, subject to medical clearance.

Sarfaraz likened his squad to their marine namesake: “Dolphins are intelligent and fast learners, and I want my team to embody these traits.”

Matches to Watch
The tournament features a double-league format with five teams: Stallions, Panthers, Lions, Markhors, and the Dolphins. Matches will test the tactical depth and adaptability of teams across varied conditions.

Dolphins’ schedule:

  • 8 Dec – vs  Panthers (12 noon)
    10 Dec – vs Markhors (12 noon)
    12 Dec – vs Lions (3.30pm)

Building for the Future
The Dolphins’ mentor is optimistic about nurturing talent like Sufyan Moqim and Qasim Akram, who have progressed through similar tournaments. “Results are secondary,” Sarfaraz reiterated, emphasizing the PCB’s vision of closing the gap between domestic and international cricket.

With a packed schedule, a competitive squad, and a focus on power-hitting and sharp bowling, the  Dolphins are ready to make waves. Keep an eye on the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium this December—it promises cricket at its finest.
