Right-arm fast bowler Aamir Jamal has been released from the Pakistan Test squad ahead of the upcoming series against Bangladesh. Aamir, who was initially included in the squad pending fitness clearance, has been advised to continue his rehabilitation and focus on his fitness at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.
The decision to release Aamir comes as he continues to recover from a back injury sustained during his stint in county cricket earlier this year. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) medical panel determined that Aamir requires additional time to regain full fitness before he can be considered for selection.
The first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh is set to begin on 21 August at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The series marks the start of Pakistan’s home campaign in the ICC World Test Championship.
