Day three of the third round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25 saw decisive performances from Abbottabad, Bahawalpur, Lahore Whites, Peshawar, and Rawalpindi as they each clinched victories across Pool A and B fixtures. In contrast, matches in Pool C faced interruptions due to bad light, limiting play across all three venues.
Bahawalpur vs. Multan (Abbottabad Cricket Stadium)
Bahawalpur defended a 221-run target to secure a 78-run win over Multan. Beginning the day with a 150-run lead, Bahawalpur were bowled out for just 70, as Waseem Akram Jnr tore through their lineup, claiming a remarkable 5-38. Multan, however, could not capitalize on the opportunity, collapsing to 142 all out in 41.1 overs. Abbottabad vs. Larkana (National Ground, Islamabad)
Abbottabad registered their second win of the season with a convincing ten-wicket victory over Larkana. Trailing by 38 runs, Larkana’s batting faltered, moving from 130-5 to 186 all out, courtesy of Abbottabad’s Aqib Khan, who took an impressive 5-39. Abbottabad chased down the 19-run target in two overs.
Lahore Whites vs. Islamabad (Marghzar Ground, Islamabad)
Lahore Whites clinched a five-wicket victory over Islamabad, chasing down a modest 109-run target. Despite stumbling at 54-5, they were guided to victory thanks to an unbeaten 42 from Muhammad Akhlaq. Earlier, Islamabad’s innings folded at 155 after resuming from 129-8, with Lahore Whites’ Ahmed Daniyal taking his maiden first-class five-wicket haul.
Rawalpindi vs. Karachi Whites (Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi)
Led by Shadab Khan, Rawalpindi crushed Karachi Whites by nine wickets, recording back-to-back wins. Karachi Whites were bowled out for just 74 in their second innings, with Mohammad Awais Anwar’s brilliant 5-23 leaving Rawalpindi a target of only 22, which they achieved in 3.1 overs.
Peshawar vs. AJK (Ashfaq Cricket Ground, Charsadda)
Peshawar handed AJK their third consecutive defeat with a nine-wicket victory. AJK, adding just 71 runs to their overnight lead, were bowled out for 171. Sajid Khan impressed again, finishing with a match tally of 9-85. Peshawar’s openers, Maaz Sadaqat and Waqar Ahmed, made light work of the 130-run target in 25.5 overs.
Group C Matches Disrupted by Bad Light
In Lahore, limited play was possible in the Lahore Blues-Quetta fixture, with Quetta reduced to 92-8. Mohammad Abbas (4-43) and Nisar Ahmed (3-30) dominated. At Multan, Karachi Blues’ Abdullah Fazal scored a maiden first-class century (122 not out) in a rain-shortened day, moving the team to 251-8.
