Abbottabad Secures an Impressive Win Over DM Jamali in Hanif Mohammad Trophy 2023-24

Abbottabad emerged victorious against DM Jamali by an innings and two runs on the third day of the fourth round of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy 2023-24. In other matches, Sialkot built a strong position against AJK, Islamabad and Quetta had a tough battle, and Hyderabad continued to chase Bahawalpur’s massive total.

AJK v Sialkot at Muzaffarabad Cricket Ground

Sialkot resumed their innings at 221 for four, with Ashir Mehmood leading the way. Mehmood added a vital 40 runs to his score from the previous day, ending with an impressive 168 off 286 balls, featuring 15 boundaries and two sixes. Salman Khan also contributed with 42 runs off 83 balls.

Sialkot managed to post a total of 375 before being bowled out, with Faizan Saleem and Aqib Liaqat picking up four wickets each.

AJK’s batting struggled throughout the day as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Nadeem Khalil was the top scorer with 30 runs. Bilal Asif and Mohammad Waleed took two wickets each as AJK ended the day at 151 for 6.

Islamabad v Quetta at Mirpur Cricket Stadium

Islamabad resumed their innings at 169 for six, and Mohammad Musa played a heroic innings, scoring an unbeaten century (102 not out, 201 balls, 17x4s). Rizwan Ali added a crucial half-century with 56 runs.

Jalat Khan was the star bowler for Quetta, taking five wickets. Islamabad managed to reach a respectable total of 300 before getting bowled out.

In Quetta’s second innings, they struggled and were reduced to 99 for 5, with Haris Hassan and Ali Imran taking two wickets each. The match remains tightly contested.

Abbottabad v DM Jamali at Multan Cricket Stadium

Abbottabad secured an emphatic win by an innings and two runs against DM Jamali. DM Jamali started their innings at 0 for 0 and managed to score 200 runs before getting bowled out.

Taimur Ali (108) and Mohammad Shahid (61) offered some resistance, but Abbottabad’s collective bowling effort, led by Israr Hussain (4 wickets) and Khalid Usman (3 wickets), proved too much for DM Jamali.

Bahawalpur v Hyderabad at Sheikh Khalifa Sports Complex Rahim Yar Khan

Hyderabad continued to impress with the bat against Bahawalpur. They started the day at 143 for 2 and added 261 runs to their total. Mohammad Suleman was the standout batsman, scoring 143 runs, while Ali Ahsan (84), Daniyal Hussain Rajput (80 not out), and Jawad Ali (51) also contributed significantly.

Bahawalpur’s Shahzad Gul and Mohammad Umair picked up wickets, but Hyderabad remained strong, reaching a score of 404 for 5 at stumps.

These matches showcase the competitive spirit of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy, with some teams dominating, while others are locked in intense battles.
