The National T20 Cup 2023-24 Super-Eight stage witnessed electrifying performances as Shahab Khan of Abbottabad, Yasir Khan of Rawalpindi, and Mohammad Haris of Peshawar steered their teams to resounding victories across three venues in Karachi.
Abbottabad vs. FATA at NBP Sports Complex:
In a dominant display, Abbottabad posted a commanding total of 188-5, propelled by Fakhar Zaman’s explosive 69-run knock and supported by Sajjad Ali’s gritty 44. Shahab Khan’s cameo of 22 not out further bolstered Abbottabad’s innings. However, FATA’s reply fell short as they managed only 131 runs, despite Samiullah Jnr’s valiant 53, succumbing to Shahab Khan’s mesmerizing five-wicket haul. Abbottabad clinched victory by 57 runs, with Shahab Khan adjudged the Player of the Match.
Rawalpindi vs. Sialkot at UBL Sports Complex:
Sialkot’s batting fireworks, anchored by Shoaib Malik’s unbeaten 84 and Ashir Mehmood’s 72, set a challenging target of 163-2. However, Rawalpindi’s Yasir Khan spearheaded a sensational chase, notching an impressive unbeaten 87, guiding his team to a thrilling three-wicket victory with 8 balls to spare. Yasir Khan’s performance earned him the Player of the Match accolade.
Peshawar vs. Lahore Blues at National Bank Stadium:
Peshawar, defending a modest total of 133, saw Mohammad Haris’ explosive 55 bolster their innings. Despite a resilient bowling effort by Lahore Blues, notably Usman Qadir’s remarkable five-wicket haul, Peshawar managed to secure a nail-biting five-run victory, restricting Lahore Blues to 128-8. Haris’ all-round contribution earned him the Player of the Match award.
