Abid Ali’s Unbeaten 225, SBP’s Fightback Highlight Day 2 of President’s Trophy Grade-I ninth-round

SNGPL opener Abid Ali carried his bat with a magnificent 225 not out, while Mohammad Irfan Khan fell just five runs short of his century for SBP as the second day of the President’s Trophy Grade-I ninth-round matches unfolded on Wednesday.

Abid Ali’s Marathon Knock Steers SNGPL

At UBL Sports Complex, Abid Ali stood firm for SNGPL, scoring a phenomenal 225 off 353 balls*, decorated with 34 boundaries and a six. His unbeaten effort propelled SNGPL to 346 all out in 102.5 overs against Eshaal Associates. Asad Raza led the bowling attack with 4-88, while Danish Aziz and Muhammad Ahsan picked up two wickets each.

In response, Eshaal Associates reached 116 for five in 57 overs at stumps, with opener Abdur Rehman holding the innings together with a 148-ball 65. Shahnawaz Dahani and Muhammad Ali took two wickets each to keep SNGPL in control.

HEC’s Mohsin Falls Agonizingly Short of a Century

At State Bank Stadium, OGDCL extended their total to 431 all out in 111 overs, thanks to centuries by Sarwar Afridi and Raja Hamza. However, 19-year-old Fahad Amin stole the spotlight with the ball, claiming his maiden five-wicket haul (5-112).

In response, HEC reached 231 for six in 61 overs, largely built around Mohammad Mohsin Khan’s gritty 99 off 136 balls. He fell heartbreakingly short of a century, while Ali Hamza Wasim contributed 59. Sardar Hassan Raza and Mushtaq Kalhoro picked up three wickets each for OGDCL.

SBP’s Strong Comeback with Unbeaten 183-Run Stand

At KCCA Stadium, after being bowled out for 119 in their first innings, SBP produced a stunning comeback, reaching 364 for three at stumps in their second innings.

Aqib Shah led the charge with an unbeaten 122 off 252 balls, while Muhammad Irfan Khan played an aggressive 95 not out off 137 deliveries, striking four sixes and five boundaries. The two batters forged an unbroken 183-run stand for the fourth wicket. Earlier, Umar Amin’s fluent 61 off 89 balls laid the foundation for the innings.

Ghani Glass Sets 425-Run Target for WAPDA

At NBP Sports Complex, WAPDA’s batting woes continued as they were bundled out for 132 in just 28 overs, responding to Ghani Glass’s first-innings 286. Khurram Shahzad (4-37), Ubaid Shah (3-54), and Mir Hamza (2-29) shared nine wickets between them.

Ghani Glass then posted 270 all out in 58 overs in their second innings, setting WAPDA a daunting 425-run target. Junaid Ali top-scored with 55, while Shadab Khan chipped in with 40. Khalid Usman picked up 4-64 for WAPDA.
