Ahmad Daniyal becomes fourth Lahore Qalandars’ player to join Melbourne Stars

Ahmed Daniyal, the upcoming Pakistan pacer, became the fourth Lahore Qalandars’ player to join Melbourne Stars for the ongoing Big Bash League season. Daniyal already reached Australia and presently going through his 72 hours mandatory quarantine period before joining the Stars.

Danyal, 24, is the fourth player to have successfully graduated from the Qalandars High performance centre and making it to the foreign land to express his skills. Last week, Stars played left-arm wrist spinner Syed Faridoun another player from the production line of Qalandars high performance centre in Lahore.

Haris Rauf is also in line to return back for Stars after fulfilling his national duty with Pakistan at home in a white-ball series against West Indies, starting from December 13 in Karachi.

A tape-ball cricketers playing largely on streets, started as a net-bowler in Lahore Qalandars PSL preparatory camps where he used to bowl at the international stars. His ability to bowl with consistent pace drew Aqib Javed attention. He underwent a lengthy developmental process and was drafted in the Qalandars T10 squad for Abu Dhabi T10.

He shot in prominence only last year when he was picked up by Qalandars in emerging category in PSL draft and went onto play the entire PSL season. He is among the front line player Qalandars have recently developed and unleashed them into completive cricket.

“Danyal signing with Stars vindicated that Qalandars’ efforts in developing players are in right direction,” Sameen Rana, CEO Lahore Qalandars said. “Our message for players is to dream, show your talent and we will provide you the opportunity to grow big. He[Danyal] worked hard for it and his persistence paying him back. He can bowl fast, he can bat with authority and is a complete package. I wish him a very best with this stint in Big Bash. I once again thank Melbourne Stars for showing faith on Qalandars’ production line. We will continue to produce players and give them the opportunity to grow in cricket.”

Melbourne Stars CEO Nick Cummins is excited to welcome another talent from Qalandars: “Ahmed Danial is the latest prospect to join the Stars as part of our Qalandars partnership. He’ll give us depth in our fast bowling stocks across the season and we can’t wait to see him showcase his skills.”
