Ali Naqvi and Chris Broad have been appointed as playing control teams’ leaders during the upcoming Pakistan-New Zealand series. Former Test cricketers and respected match referees, Naqvi and Broad, will be responsible for the smooth conduct of the five T20Is and five ODIs, starting from April 14 till May 7.
Naqvi will lead the team of umpires in the T20Is, while Broad, a member of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, will officiate the five ODIs. Among the umpires, Ahsan Raza and Joel Wilson are members of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, while others are members of the ICC International Panel of Umpires. The appointments have been detailed, with Ahsan Raza, Aleem Dar, Asif Yaqoob, Faisal Afridi, Langton Rusere, Joel Wilson, and Rashid Riaz carrying out the on-field umpiring duties.
Ali Naqvi expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming series, stating, “I am excited to be a part of this significant series and look forward to providing match officials with the necessary support and guidance to ensure the matches are played in the right spirit.” Similarly, Chris Broad shared his excitement, saying, “I am thrilled to be returning to Pakistan after 14 years to officiate the upcoming ODI series. I have no doubt that the matches will be played in the right spirit, and I look forward to working with the team of officials.”
The schedule for the series has also been released, with the first T20I set to be played on April 14 in Lahore. The detailed umpire appointments have also been shared, ensuring transparency and accountability during the series.
