Ayesha Zafar Shines as Lahore Dominates in National Women’s T20 Tournament

The latest round of the National Women’s T20 Tournament 2023-24 witnessed exhilarating action as Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi clinched victories in matches held across venues in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Lahore stamped their authority with an exceptional 119-run triumph over Multan. A brilliant century by Ayesha Zafar, coupled with an impressive three-wicket haul from Ghulam Fatima, propelled Lahore to a commanding victory.

In the game live-streamed on PCB’s YouTube channel, Lahore set a daunting target of 200-2, fueled by Ayesha Zafar’s magnificent 113 runs off 65 balls. Sidra Amin’s unbeaten 71 also played a pivotal role in Lahore’s imposing total. Multan faltered in their chase, managing only 81 all out, with Ghulam Fatima’s three wickets dismantling their batting lineup. Ayesha Zafar was deservedly awarded the Player of the Match for her stellar performance.

Meanwhile, Karachi secured a convincing six-wicket win over Quetta at Ayub Park Ground. A disciplined bowling effort restricted Quetta to 88-7, with Maham Manzoor’s three wickets leading Karachi’s charge. Chasing the target, Karachi reached 89-4 in 13 overs, with Maham Manzoor’s standout bowling performance earning her the Player of the Match award.

In the third encounter at Diamond Cricket Ground, Rawalpindi emerged victorious over Peshawar by five wickets. After restricting Peshawar to 99-6, Rawalpindi chased down the target comfortably in 11.2 overs, with Farzana Farooq’s impressive 35 runs earning her the Player of the Match accolade.

The thrilling matches showcased the exceptional talent and competitive spirit of the teams participating in the National Women’s T20 Tournament. With all six teams set to feature in the ninth round of matches on Monday, 29 January, cricket enthusiasts can expect more excitement and intense competition in the upcoming games.
