The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) disclosed that Azam sought medical attention for discomfort in his right leg, casting doubt on his availability for the series opener today.
During Wednesday’s practice session, Azam encountered discomfort in his right knee and calf muscle while batting in the nets, prompting swift medical intervention. The PCB confirmed that Azam is presently under medical observation, with further assessments pending radiology reports. The decision regarding his inclusion in the New Zealand series hinges on these crucial findings.
Pakistan’s encounter with New Zealand marks the beginning of a five-match T20I series, serving as a vital preparatory phase for the forthcoming T20 World Cup slated for June in the United States and the West Indies.
