Babar Azam hailed as “best player in the world” by Imad Wasim following sensational century against New Zealand in second T20I

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has praised his teammate and skipper, Babar Azam, calling him the “best player in the world” after his outstanding performance in the second T20I against New Zealand on Saturday.

Babar’s sensational century helped Pakistan secure a 38-run victory and take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Speaking to Babar after the match, Wasim was full of admiration for his captain’s excellent innings, saying “the way he played was simply brilliant.” Pakistan’s win was also aided by pacer Haris Rauf’s four-wicket haul.

Babar, who is now the joint-most successful T20I captain alongside England’s Eoin Morgan and Afghanistan’s Asghar Afghan, credited the team’s bowling attack for their consecutive victories. New Zealand, who are missing eight players due to the Indian Premier League (IPL) and have captain Kane Williamson out with a knee injury, will look to bounce back in the remaining three T20 matches scheduled for April 17 in Lahore, and 20 and 24 in Rawalpindi.

The two teams will also play five one-day internationals after the T20 series as part of their preparation for the upcoming 50-over World Cup in India.
