When initially the OST of Bandhay Ek Dour Se, hit our screens, it looked as if this would be an intense love triangle. However, in the first few episodes, our expectations were moderated slightly. Yes, there was a family drama and foreshadowing of what was about to come. This newest drama produced under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi has a somewhat quirky feel to it.
Roshni (Hina Altaf) was the shining light (pardon the pun) of this drama. Her antics seemed endearing to our boy-deeply-in-love Umar (Ahsan Khan). In his eyes, she could do no wrong. While Maheen (Ushna Shah) is this do-gooder and playing the role of a bridge between the two. The premise was set.
In the latest episode, however, things started to move rather quickly. Nabeel (Adeel Chaudhary) comes and sweeps Roshni her off her feet. She is daydreaming of being his wife…scratch that…rich wife. Nabeel and his mother, played by Seemi Pasha, also sound keen. Despite Maheen’s protests and reminders about Umar, things perhaps are moving towards jhat mangi pat biah.
On the flip side, an increasingly worried Umar decides to join his father’s business. Although he tries to communicate with Roshni through Maheen, all his pleas are going unheard. Simply because Maheen is not telling him the real situation to protect him from heartbreak. Perhaps, she sees that Umar is now taking on more responsibility, which might change Roshni’s opinion of him. Plus, the relations between the two families don’t seem to be improving very much either.
It is also a tricky little situation for Maheen. Does she reveal everything to Umar now and break his heart or wait and hope things turn for the better. How will this impact the friendship between Umar and Maheen? Things are changing quite fast in this drama and keeping us guessing.
