In a thrilling match played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Panthers secured a convincing 6-wicket victory over Dolphins in the Champions T20 Cup.
The Dolphins, who won the toss, opted to bat first but struggled to post a competitive total. They lost their first wicket in the very first over, with Sahibzada Farhan falling to Ali Raza without scoring.
Imad Butt struck twice in the next over, dismissing Muhammad Haris for a duck and Umar Amin for 4 runs. Wasim Junior claimed the wicket of Mirza Tahir Baig, who scored 19 runs, in his first over.
The Dolphins never recovered from the early setbacks and were restricted to 106/9 in 20 overs. Captain Fahim Ashraf top-scored with 25, while Muhammad Akhlaq and Qasim Akram contributed 19 and 14 runs, respectively.
Wasim Junior finished with impressive figures of 3/28, while Imad Butt and Irfat Manhas claimed two wickets each.
In response, the Panthers stumbled to 14/3, losing Omar Siddiq, Mubasir Khan, and captain Shadab Khan without scoring.
However, Abdul Wahid Bangalzai’s outstanding 51-run knock, laced with six fours and two sixes, helped the Panthers recover. He shared a crucial 82-run partnership with Danish Aziz, who remained unbeaten on 38.
Irfat Manhas chipped in with an unbeaten 11, featuring two fours. Ehsanullah and Samin Gul claimed two wickets each for the Dolphins.
Abdul Wahid Bangalzai was declared the Player of the Match for his match-winning innings.
In the next match, Stallions will face off against Lines.
