Bangladesh A Show Resilience Against Pakistan Shaheens on Day Two

Mohammad Huraira’s stunning double century set the tone for Pakistan Shaheens before Bangladesh A mounted a spirited resistance on day two of the first four-day match at the DXC Arena in Darwin. At stumps, Bangladesh A were 203-4 in 62 overs, trailing Pakistan Shaheens by 264 runs.

Huraira’s Heroics and Shaheens’ Declaration

Resuming at their overnight score of 375-2, Pakistan Shaheens added 92 runs in 17.1 overs before declaring their innings at 467-3. Mohammad Huraira, who began the day on 161 not out, continued his dominant display to score a magnificent 218 off 247 balls, laced with 26 fours and one six. This marked the second double ton of his first-class career.

Kamran Ghulam, who resumed with Huraira, completed his century and remained unbeaten on 100 off 161 balls, including 13 boundaries. Their third-wicket partnership of 204 runs solidified Shaheens’ stronghold. Hasan Murad finally broke this stand by dismissing Huraira in the 94th over. Omair Bin Yousuf added a quick 6 not out before the declaration came immediately after Kamran’s milestone.

Among Bangladesh A’s bowlers, Ripon Mondol took 2-84, while Hasan Murad managed 1-130.

In response, Bangladesh A had a shaky start, losing Parvez Hossain Emon (3) and Amite Hasan (8) early, reducing them to 23-2 within 12.1 overs. Mohammad Ali and Khurram Shahzad provided the initial breakthroughs for Pakistan Shaheens.

However, Shadman Islam and Aich Mollah steadied the innings with a formidable 153-run partnership for the third wicket. Shadman played a solid innings of 88 off 167 balls, hitting 15 boundaries, while Aich Mollah scored a composed 70 off 113 balls, with 11 fours.

Late Wickets Halt Progress

The partnership was broken by a sharp piece of fielding from Sahibzada Farhan, running out Mollah. Shortly after, Shahnawaz Dahani dismissed Shadman, caught by Umar Amin. As the day drew to a close, Ariful Islam retired hurt, leaving Bangladesh A at 203-4 in 62 overs. Shahadat Hossain remained unbeaten on 15, while Hasan Murad was yet to score.

For Pakistan Shaheens, Mohammad Ali, Khurram Shahzad, and Shahnawaz Dahani each took one wicket, while Mubasir and Mehran went wicketless.
