Arij Fatyma was born in America, she is only daughter and second child of her parents Mr Saeed Jafri and Mehreen Jafri. Arij got her early education in Karachi when her family moved here. Arij took second position in the exam of matriculation in 2005. She started her career as a model in 2010-2011 and did ads for many brands and companies.
“Hazaron Saal”, and “Kisay Apna Kahen” are the notable acting works of Arij Fatyma. She was born on 7th November, that makes her birthday girl today. A few months ago team MediaSpringPK got chance to speak to Arij, so here is a ‘birthday special’ from our side; the crux of the conversation with Arij Fatyma.

You were brought up in USA how you learned such fine Urdu?
Arij: my parents moved back to Pakistan when I was little, my schooling and college all were in Pakistan so I had no problem in learning Urdu.
Why you chose showbiz as career?
Arij: I wanted to work but I did not want to be employed in an organization. My parents allowed me to work whatever I would like, therefore, I joined showbiz as its glitter mesmerised me a lot. I started my career as a model.
How you started acting then?
Arij: An actress friend took me to a drama shooting and introduced me there. The producer offered me to act in a drama and called me for the audition the following day. That audition went well and that’s how my acting career started.
What it takes to get a role in a TV Drama?
Arij: A good looking face as well as a face that can carry expressions. Dialogue delivery skill is an important factor. I have learnt all that with the time.
When are you planning to join films?
Arij: When we will start producing films her in Pakistan then I will definitely do films.
What do you do in your leisure time?
Arij: I sleep as much as I can or my friends come to meet me I spent time in chatting with them.
What’s your opinion about Bollywood?
Arij: It is a big cinema that has space for experiments, they have massive sponsors and actors are superb, when an artist is paid well his work automatically improves.
Which actor do you like the most?
Arij: Salman Khan, his acting works like a magic. He knows how to make a film successful. It’s my wish to at least meet him once in my life.
Which Pakistani actor do you like the most?
Arij: All of our actors are remarkable in fact their work is liked in India as well.
Where is Pakistani showbiz standing internationally, in your opinion?
Arij: Our fashion industry is going through a boom that it has never seen before. Drama is doing well but film is on the decline and there is not much being done to revive it.
Which country or city do you like the most?
Arij: I was born in USA, spent some time in Canada too, and every city of Pakistan has its own flavor.
Which food do you like the most?
Arij: I am not a foodie at all, in fact in the functions I stay away from heavy food items.
What type of music do you listen to?
Arij: One cannot get enough of old songs and ghazals, as long as contemporary music goes I listen to almost all the genre and enjoy them.
What is your future plan?
Arij: Right now drama acting is on along with brand ambassadorship, there is a lot to do in the showbiz so what I feel I can do I go for it.
Has the ongoing situation of the country effected connection of showbiz and viewers?
Arij: It has indeed, and now with this load shedding who would watch incomplete drama. The price hike has made common man depressed, therefore, film and drama is not in their priorities.
How short is the showbiz life?
Arij: When an artist is exhausted that is the end of his career. But I would like to live here for long. And my work can keep me going, as no artist can impose him or herself by force it’s the work that counts.
