Broken Hearts, Weddings and Promises; Kasa-e-Dil Starts with a Bang

7th Sky Entertainment’s latest drama Kasa-e-Dil started off at a rapid pace with a lot happening in the 1st episode. The basis seems to be family members not trusting each other and, in a couple of cases, even lying to get their way. It was an intriguing set up, opening up various possibilities.

Set in Karachi, we begin with at Somiya’s (Hina Altaf) house as she prepares for her brother’s (Haris Waheed) wedding. All is going well with her cousin and neighbor Hatim (Ali Ansari) taking her out for shopping. There is clearly a connection between the two. However, Somiya’s aunt and Nouman’s mother is evidently unhappy with this romance. When Somiya’s father hints at a proposal, she lies and shuts him down. Unaware of this, Hatim and Somiya are busy living their dream.

However, there is another angle to it as well. Raheela (Sukaina Khan), who is all set to marry Somiya’s brother Nouman is in love with Hatim. His rejection, had made her bitter and angry. She seemingly is marrying out of spite and curses Hatim for his choices. Poor Nouman is entirely unaware of this and is in for a shock.

Then there is Shireen (Komal Aziz Khan), who is also getting ready to get married under pressure from here strict father (Noor Ul Hassan). She secretly loves Aden (Affan Waheed) but never has had the courage to share her feeling. Now, its almost too late.
There are a myriad of broken hearts and tension filled relationships. A big incident happens at the end of the first episode, which sets it up wonderfully. With such a strong cast, the excellent performances were half expected. However, the mastery is in combing it with a solid script. As usual Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi have worked their magic and seemingly have created a perfect combination. Expect a certain storm in the next few episodes. The setup has prepared us for it.
