On the second day of the fourth round matches in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, cricket fans were treated to an exciting display of skill and determination as several players made their mark. Let’s dive into the day’s highlights:
Faisalabad vs. Rawalpindi at Pindi Cricket Stadium
The day began with Rawalpindi resuming their first innings at 77 for four. However, they couldn’t overcome the impressive bowling display of right-arm fast bowler Faheem Ashraf, who claimed five wickets for just 12 runs. Despite Zeeshan Malik’s resilience, contributing an undefeated 108 runs, Rawalpindi was bundled out for 144 in 56.3 overs.
Faisalabad, starting their second innings 32 runs behind, managed to put up 135 for five in 47.2 overs by the end of the day. Opening batter Mohammad Huraira was the standout performer, scoring a remarkable 87 off 138 balls.
FATA vs. Multan at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium
In response to Multan’s imposing first innings total of 529 for five, FATA showed resilience with Rehan Afridi leading the charge. Afridi’s unbeaten 135 off 149 balls included 19 boundaries and three sixes, guiding FATA to 195 for four in 52.3 overs. Despite a valiant effort, they were still trailing by 334 runs with six wickets in hand at stumps.
Karachi Whites vs. Lahore Whites at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore
Karachi Whites faced an uphill battle against Lahore Whites after the latter declared their first innings at 509-9. Left-arm spinner Noman Ali was the standout performer, taking six wickets for 162 runs in 48 overs. Karachi Whites ended the day at 104 for no loss, with openers Ammad Alam (63 not out) and Khurram Manzoor (33 not out) forming an unbroken partnership of 104 runs.
Lahore Blues vs. Peshawar at Abbottabad Cricket Stadium
Peshawar’s Sahibzada Farhan showcased his batting prowess with a splendid knock of 132 off 175 balls, helping his team reach 224 for four in 62 overs at the close of day two. Karman Ghulam also made a notable contribution with 43 runs.
Earlier, Lahore Blues had posted 334 all out in their first innings, with Hussain Talat (87), Junaid Ali (82), and Kashif Bhatti (69) leading the charge.
