Digital is the new mainstream media: Labiba Taimour talks about her digital show journey in media and more

Labiba Taimour is one of the multifaceted news media personality, she has spent her time at the both ends of the camera. Be it her role as part of production team of Dunya, Samaa, and Bol or her role as news anchor with Neo TV and GNN she has proved her mettle very well.

These days Labiba is on a break from the mainstream media and she has started doing a  digital show. “This show is totally changed from what I have done in the past because I have done only current affairs and this show is entirely different as the name shows it by self ‘The drawing room show,.” says Labiba.

Hailing from Lahore, Labiba did her MSC in Mass communication from the University of Punjab. Recalling her journey in media, Labiba says, “I was the first student in my class who started job in Din News as an anchor that was 13 years ago. Than I joined Express News for news production. I was later part of Dunya TV for programming production. Later, I joined Samaa and than Bol these were my last stints in production. I returned to news anchoring in 2016 and joined Neo TV as news anchor than I was part of pioneer news anchoring team of GNN.”

Talking about her comeback on TV screen Labiba says that she has spent 13 years on mainstream media and she has plans to comeback soon but for now she wanted to have a break, however, when ever she returns to screen that will be with news anchoring and current affairs show only. “Big no for acting and modeling. This is not my cup of tea. I am very much happy with the news anchoring or hosting the current affairs show,” says the producer turned TV anchor.

Labiba believes that digital media is the new mainstream media. “It is rapidly growing and replacing print and electronic media. The seasoned members of the media fraternity are moving to this medium as their talk-show are being censored at times. Secondly, the avenues for them for instance TV channels, newspapers etc are shrinking. But, a presence on social media and digital platforms would mitigate opportunities to earn revenue for young and upcoming journalists,” says the TV presenter.

MediaSpringPK wishes Labiba Taimour all the best for her future endeavors.
