Canadian cricket reached a historic milestone as Dilpreet Singh Bajwa became the first Canadian cricketer to score a century in the history of the Global T20 Canada, which is also the first century in the ongoing fourth season of the league.
He lit up the arena with 10 fours and 6 massive sixes against the Brampton Wolves at the TD Cricket Arena on Tuesday. Bajwa stood his ground against the Brampton Wolves, scoring 100 off 55 balls, as Montreal ended their innings at 166/7.
Bajwa’s century sets a new standard for Canadian cricket and highlights the growing talent and potential within the sport in Canada. His performance is a testament to the league’s high level of competition and the quality of cricket being played. After a strong performance in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup, Canadian cricketers continue to show their skills, often outshining some of the world’s top players who are also featuring in the tournament.
Dilpreet delightedly said,”It was amazing to reach the three figure mark for the first time in GT20 Canada. At the same time, my team needed it as well. My coach gave me a job and I am happy that I was able to do it for the team. It was my first inning as an opener and I am glad I executed it well. This league is a good exposure for me and other Canadian players.”
