Diva’ni, India’s first cinema inspired fashion brand, set to open it’s doors in Pakistan this July proudly stands tall as the costume partner for this year’s most awaited film “SULTAN” starring Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma.

Diva’ni has designed and styled the look for Anushka in a special sequence of the song “Sachi Muchi”. This is one of the key looks of the actress in the movie as this song incorporates a wedding sequence on screen. She is seen adorning a traditional bridal ensemble for a wedding set in Haryana. This look styled by Diva’ni is contrasting to her look throughout the movie where she is playing the role of a wrestler.

This sequence in the film incorporates handcrafted traditional chikankaari ensemble embellished with bespoke technique of zardozi, including elementsof kundangotadapka naqshi for the bride. This ensemble adorned by the actress is part of Diva’ni’s “Lafz” collection.

Standing tall as the custodians of Indian art & craftsmanship, Diva’ni brings  to you “Lafz”, from the city of nawabs (Lucknow). Dipped in serene hues of ivories and tea dips, this pure and intricate collection boasts the Mughal art of rendering delicate patterns in pristine white threads on fine mulls and muslin. Travelling back in time, this art traces its origin in the darbars of queen Nur Jehan. Since then, this art has won hearts across all generations. Diva’ni revives this beautiful tradition and adds on its aesthetics to make it a must for your summer wardrobes.

The silhouettes include straight kurtas, ijaars, shararas, lehengas and saris, teamed up with jackets, blouses and crop tops. The entire collection was initiated across brand’s three prime craft clusters namely Lucknow, Varansi and New Delhi. It has taken over 12 months of extensive planning & execution including a manpower base of over 167 craftsman to create this celebrated collection. Each piece is aesthetically styled and crafted with statement Diva’ni kundan-kadi zardozi and gota embroidery resulting into an amalgamation of diverse ornamentation in a never seen before flavour.

““Lafz” is an initiative for Diva’ni’s craftsmen: The “Sultans of Diva’ni”, who are the unsung heroes and are the real Sultans in our eyes. Said Sanya Dhir, Creative Director, Diva’ni.”

In a glamorous world of fast fashion, ready to wear clothing and the endless need to keep it casual, this age old art of karigari hangs by a thin but firm thread. The process of creating a handcrafted piece is excruciating, as it requires impeccable craftsmanship, precision and countless hours.

The karigaars might not have received any formal education in their craft, but they give us clothing that comes straight from the heart, putting their “Lafz” or words into their craft and presenting masterpieces with utmost devotion and sincerity.

I am excited about Sultan, first time I am playing a wrestler. Aarfa has different looks in the film, some traditional and some sporty, but mostly sporty. The traditional outfit which is ivory chikankaari is beautiful.  Diva’ni team did a fantastic job designing and executing it. “said Anushka Sharma
