Durban Qalandars Showcase Dominance with a 25-Run Victory Against Bulawayo Braves

The Durban Qalandars put on a stunning display of cricket in their match against the Bulawayo Braves on Sunday at the Harare Sports Club, securing an impressive 25-run win. Tim Seifert’s explosive 44 and Brad Evans’ impressive bowling were the standout performances of the day, propelling the Qalandars to the second spot on the points table.

Having won the toss and opting to bat first, the Durban Qalandars’ openers, Hazratullah Zazai and Tim Seifert, provided a blistering start with their powerful hitting. Their fiery partnership reached the 60-run mark before Seifert’s 14-ball 44 came to an end. Zazai contributed 21 runs before departing, while Andre Fletcher added to the Qalandars’ momentum with his aggressive batting, scoring 34 runs.

Asif Ali and Nick Welch contributed a few quick runs, guiding the Qalandars to a formidable total of 122/6 in their allotted 10 overs. Tymal Mills and Sikandar Raza were the notable bowlers for the Braves, picking up crucial wickets during the Qalandars’ innings.

In response, the Bulawayo Braves struggled to find momentum from the outset, losing wickets at regular intervals. Brad Evans proved to be the tormentor-in-chief, claiming three crucial wickets and putting immense pressure on the Braves’ batting lineup. Captain Sikandar Raza tried to counterattack with a quickfire 11, but it was not enough to steady the innings.

Ashton Turner’s resilient 32 was the lone bright spot in the Braves’ chase, but they were unable to maintain the required run rate. The Qalandars’ bowling attack, led by Tendai Chatara’s two wickets, effectively stifled the opposition’s efforts.

Ultimately, the Bulawayo Braves could only manage 97/7 in their 10 overs, falling short by 25 runs. The Durban Qalandars’ collective brilliance with both bat and ball secured a commanding victory, elevating them to the second spot on the points table.

Brief Scores:
Durban Qalandars: 122/6 in 10 overs (Tim Seifert 44, Andre Fletcher 34, Tymal Mills 2/24, Sikandar Raza 1/18)
Bulawayo Braves: 97/7 in 10 overs (Ashton Turner 32, Sikandar Raza 11, Brad Evans 3/20, Tendai Chatara 2/19)

The Durban Qalandars’ convincing win against the Bulawayo Braves highlights their strong form in the Zim Afro T10 tournament, making them a formidable contender as the competition progresses.
