In a thrilling encounter at the State Bank Ground on Monday, Dynamites secured their third consecutive victory in the Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament by defeating Blasters by 78 runs. The highlight of the match was Dynamites’ captain Sidra Amin’s exceptional innings, where she scored 95 runs off 100 balls.
Opting to bat first, Dynamites faced an early setback when opener Khadija Chishti was dismissed for just five runs by Blasters’ Diana Baig. However, Sidra Amin and Bismah Maroof forged an impressive 130-run partnership for the second wicket. Amin’s knock included 13 boundaries, while Maroof contributed with a steady 65 off 95 deliveries, featuring two fours and a six. Their partnership propelled Dynamites to a challenging total of 214 for four in their allotted 45 overs. Diana Baig and Saba Nazir picked up two wickets each for Blasters.
In response, Blasters struggled to build meaningful partnerships and were eventually bowled out for 136 in 37.3 overs. Dynamites’ off-spinner Rameen Shamim was the pick of the bowlers, claiming three crucial wickets for 25 runs. Nashra Sundhu, Ghulam Fatima, and Maham Manzoor also chipped in with two wickets each. Blasters’ captain Muneeba Ali top-scored with 33 runs, while opener Ayesha Zafar contributed 30 runs to the chase.
With this victory, Dynamites continue their dominant run in the tournament, while Blasters faced their second defeat. Sidra Amin and Bismah Maroof now lead the tournament’s batting charts with 195 runs at an impressive average of 97.50 and 94 runs at 94, respectively.
Ghulam Fatima, the leg-spinner from Dynamites, currently holds the record for the most wickets in the tournament with eight scalps at an impressive average of 7.88. Diana Baig and Aliya Riaz follow closely with six and five wickets, respectively.
In the next match, Challengers, who are yet to secure a win, will face off against Blasters on Wednesday, aiming to turn their fortunes around.
