Dynamites Dominate Challengers to Clinch Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament

In a thrilling showdown at the State Bank Stadium in Karachi, Dynamites emerged victorious by a massive margin of 132 runs against Challengers in the final match of the Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament 2022-23. The Dynamites, led by the brilliant Sidra Amin, showcased an outstanding display of skill and determination to secure the coveted trophy.

Opting to bat first, Dynamites set a challenging target of 211 for six in their allotted 45 overs. After the early dismissal of Khadija Chishti, Sidra Amin and wicketkeeper-batter Sidra Nawaz formed a solid partnership, adding 52 runs for the second wicket. Sidra Amin’s impressive knock of 38 provided a strong foundation, but it was Sidra Nawaz’s unbeaten century that stole the spotlight. Nawaz’s majestic innings of 103 off 112 deliveries, adorned with 13 boundaries, powered Dynamites to a formidable total.

Challengers faced an uphill battle in their chase as Dynamites’ bowlers displayed exceptional skill and discipline. Challengers’ batters struggled to find their rhythm, losing wickets at regular intervals. Their innings crumbled, and they were bowled out for a mere 79 runs in 28.5 overs. Javeria Khan fought valiantly with a resilient knock of 28, but lacked support from her teammates. The spin duo of Ghulam Fatima and Nashra Sundhu wreaked havoc on Challengers’ batting lineup. Nashra claimed four wickets for just five runs in 4.5 overs, while Ghulam Fatima contributed three wickets for a mere five runs from her four overs.

With their emphatic victory, Dynamites secured a well-deserved prize of PKR1 million, while Challengers had to settle for PKR 0.5 million. This marked Dynamites’ second consecutive triumph over Challengers in the tournament’s final, replicating their dominant performance from the 2018 edition when they clinched a resounding victory by 190 runs.

Sidra Nawaz’s unbeaten century earned her the title of Player of the Match, showcasing her exceptional batting prowess and contribution to the team’s success. Meanwhile, Sidra Amin, who amassed an impressive tally of 269 runs throughout the one-day phase, was named Player of the Tournament, cementing her status as a standout performer.

The Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament 2022-23 concluded with a thrilling spectacle, highlighting the immense talent and dedication of the players. The exceptional performances from both teams ensured an exciting competition, and fans were treated to a memorable display of women’s cricket at its finest.
