In a dominant display, the Dynamites secured their second win of the one-day phase in the Pakistan Cup Women’s Cricket Tournament with an emphatic eight-wicket triumph over the Challengers. The Challengers were bowled out for a modest total of 119 runs in 40.3 overs, and the Dynamites comfortably chased down the target in just 28.1 overs at the State Bank Ground on Saturday.
Left-arm orthodox spinner Nashra Sandhu played a pivotal role in the Dynamites’ victory, claiming three wickets for 19 runs in her seven overs. She dismissed Javeria Rauf, who top-scored with 44, as well as Noreen Yaqub (16) and Maham Tariq (0). Nashra’s impressive performance earned her the well-deserved Player of the Match award. Additionally, Waheeda Akhtar, Aliya Riaz, and Ghulam Fatima contributed with two wickets each, while Maham Manzoor claimed one wicket.
In their run chase, the Dynamites’ openers, Khadija Chishty and captain Sidra Amin, provided a solid foundation with an impressive 80-run partnership. Khadija contributed 33 runs, while Sidra played a captain’s knock, scoring 42 runs. Bismah Maroof and Aliya Riaz remained unbeaten on 16 and 14 runs, respectively, as the Dynamites comfortably reached the target set by the Challengers.
This defeat marked the Challengers’ second consecutive loss in the tournament, highlighting the challenges they faced.
