Ehsan Adil and Hammad Azam Bid Farewell to Cricket, Announce Retirement from Professional Play

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made a long-due announcement today as fast bowler Ehsan Adil and all-rounder Hammad Azam have decided to retire from professional cricket. The retirements of these two players mark the end of their respective cricketing careers in Pakistan.

Ehsan Adil, who made his Test debut in February 2013 against South Africa in Centurion, had a brief but memorable international career. He represented Pakistan in two Tests and six One-Day Internationals between 2013 and 2015, taking five and four wickets, respectively. Ehsan had showcased his talent earlier as a member of Pakistan’s side in the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup held in Australia in 2012. Over the years, he proved his skills in domestic cricket, playing 67 first-class matches and taking an impressive 245 wickets. In addition, he participated in 67 List A matches, claiming 98 wickets, and featured in 68 T20 matches, capturing 86 wickets.

Hammad Azam, an all-rounder known for his versatility, represented Pakistan in the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup held in New Zealand in 2010. He showcased his potential at the international level by playing 11 One-Day Internationals and five T20Is between 2011 and 2015. Throughout his domestic career, which spanned from December 2008 to June 2021, Hammad displayed remarkable performances. In first-class cricket, he scored 4,953 runs and took 186 wickets in 107 matches. In List A cricket, he accumulated 2,362 runs and claimed 91 wickets in 114 matches. Additionally, Hammad contributed with 1,361 runs and 75 wickets in 98 T20 matches.

The PCB extended their congratulations to Ehsan Adil and Hammad Azam for their invaluable services to cricket. The board also expressed their best wishes for their future endeavors beyond the cricketing field.
