In an encounter at Northampton, England Women emerged victorious against Pakistan Women by a margin of 65 runs in the second Women’s T20 International.
Pakistan Women’s cricket team captain, Nida Dar, achieved a remarkable milestone during this match by becoming the highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20 Internationals. In her 148th T20I appearance, Dar claimed her 137th wicket, surpassing Australia’s Megan Schutt’s record of 136 wickets.
Despite Dar’s phenomenal achievement, England Women dominated the proceedings, securing a convincing victory to take an unassailable lead of two-nil in the three-match series. Earlier, England had triumphed in the first T20 International, winning by 53 runs.
Batting first in the second T20I, England Women posted a competitive total of 144 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Natalie Sciver and Alice Capsey top-scored with 31 runs each, supported by Maia Bouchier’s 30. Pakistan Women faced a daunting task in their chase and were bowled out for just 79 runs in 15.5 overs.
England’s bowling attack, led by Sophie Ecclestone with figures of 3/11, put Pakistan under immense pressure, with Sarah Glenn and Lauren Bell also contributing with two wickets each. Diana Baig, playing her 50th T20I, took a crucial wicket of England’s captain Heather Knight, restricting her to just 4 runs.
Aliya Riaz was the top scorer for Pakistan Women with 19 runs, but their batting lineup struggled to build partnerships and succumbed to England’s disciplined bowling attack.
England’s Alice Capsey was awarded the Player of the Match for her exceptional performance.
With this victory, England Women have taken an unassailable lead in the series, setting the stage for an exciting finale in the third and final T20 International, scheduled to be held at Headingley, Leeds, on Sunday.
