Eoin Morgan Hails Harare Hurricanes’ Maiden Win in Zim Afro T10 Tournament: “Adaptability Was Key to Our Success”

The Harare Hurricanes celebrated their maiden win in the exhilarating Zim Afro T10 tournament with an enthralling match against the Durban Qalandars at Harare Sports Club. The Hurricanes’ captain, Eoin Morgan, was overjoyed with the team’s performance and highlighted the challenges faced by a newly assembled franchise.

In the post-match interview, Morgan emphasized the significance of getting off the mark and securing their first win. For a team in its debut year, building cohesion and adapting quickly to extract the best from each player are crucial aspects. The former England captain expressed his satisfaction with the team’s continuous improvement since the opening game.

Morgan stated, “We asked the players to be adaptable every day so that we turn up to play in the tournament with a fluid mindset. The guys have done that, and it has resulted in us getting some points on the board at a really important time.”

The victory for the Harare Hurricanes not only brings excitement to the tournament but also sets an example for investing in cricket at the grassroots level. Morgan believes that providing structural facilities and a clear pathway for young talent will ultimately make cricket a viable profession for aspiring players.

Having enjoyed his first visit to Zimbabwe, Morgan praised the warmth and enthusiasm of the people both on and off the field. He particularly admired the Harare Sports Club, likening its ambiance to that of Caribbean grounds with a grass bank and a vibrant atmosphere created by the fans.

Over the course of the three days, the tournament has seen a thrilling display of cricket and has been a celebration of the sport. With international and current players participating, the Zim Afro T10 has already gained popularity, and Morgan hopes the excitement will only grow as the competition progresses.

As the Harare Hurricanes savored their first victory, they are now looking forward to building on their success and making a lasting impact in the Zim Afro T10 tournament.
