While talking to MediaSpring PK Erum said that coming back to screen is a great feeling, “screen is something from which, I can not stay away for a long time,” said the news anchor. While talking about the reason of taking break Erum said:
“Staying away from screen was a temporary break from news and current affairs. I just wanted to enjoy my wedding, my quality time with my Husband, to enjoy our own personal space, and to travel.”
Erum Zaeem, previously known as Erum Khan took a break from her career as a news anchor after her marriage, however coming back to it “was always in her plan.” Erum says that she always wanted to be a Journalist, either broadcasting or anchoring.
She also runs a fashion brand as a fashion designer. When asked about striking a balance between being a mother, a fashion designer and a news anchor Erum gives credit to her husband for all the support. Erum said:
“As a news anchor, as a fashion designer and as a mum it is not easy to strike a balance. But my Husband’s support is my real strength, he always makes a way for my ease and help me to deal with challenges.”
Erum did her Masters in Mass Communication from the Karachi University and started her career in 2015 as a TV presenter at HTV where she hosted health related TV programme “Meray hamdard.” After staying with HTV for a year in 2016, Erum moved to Samaa and till date she is a “Samaa Anchor.”
When asked what tip she would like to give to new entrants into the field of broadcast journalism, Erum said, “No matter if you want to be a news anchor or you want to go into broadcast journalism, the key to excel in this field is to practice field journalism first, field reporting teaches you a lot and that is a great take away.”
We at MediaSpring PK congratulates Erum Zaeem on her return to screen and wish her all the best for this stint.
