Exciting Women ODI Series Between Pakistan and South Africa Set to Begin

The cricketing world is abuzz with anticipation as the Pakistan women’s cricket team, led by the dynamic Nida Dar, is all set to take on South Africa in a thrilling ODI series. After a resounding T20I series whitewash against South Africa, Pakistan will aim to carry forward their momentum in the One-Day Internationals.

The three-match ODI series, a part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, is scheduled to be held at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on September 8, 11, and 14, 2023. Notably, the first ODI will mark a significant milestone in Nida Dar’s career, as she will be playing her 100th ODI match, and fans can expect her to make it a memorable one.

Nida Dar has been a key figure for Pakistan in ODIs, with 16 appearances against South Africa, where she has contributed with both bat and ball, scoring 246 runs and taking 18 wickets. Her remarkable performance and leadership skills will be crucial for Pakistan in this series.

All three ODI matches will be broadcast live on PTV Sports/PTV National and streamed on ARY ZAP for the Pakistan region. The toss is scheduled for 1500 PST, with the first ball set to be bowled at 1530 PST.

To encourage fans to support their team at the stadium, affordable ticket prices have been fixed for the three championship matches. Tickets are available for purchase on Bookme, and physical tickets will also be available for purchase at the stadium’s box office on match days.

The VIP enclosures of Fazal Mahmood, Hanif Mohammad, and Javed Miandad will be open for spectators, providing a chance for fans to witness the action up close.

Pakistan, currently ranked fourth in the ICC Women’s Championship with 10 points from nine matches, will aim to secure maximum points in this series to improve their position in the standings. They have been performing well in home series, defeating Sri Lanka and Ireland in the past year. However, they faced a tough challenge in Australia earlier this year.

On the other hand, South Africa, ranked ninth in the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, has played and won their only series in the championship so far, defeating Ireland 3-0. South Africa’s captain, Laura Wolvaardt, who excelled in the T20I series, will look to maintain her good form in the ODIs.

Pakistan will rely on players like Sidra Amin, Fatima Sana, and Ghulam Fatima, who have been performing well in the ICC Women’s Championship. Sidra Amin has been a consistent performer, with 535 runs from nine matches, while Fatima Sana leads the bowling charts with 16 wickets. Young leg-spinner Ghulam Fatima has also made significant contributions with the ball.

In head-to-head encounters, Pakistan and South Africa have faced each other in 25 matches, with South Africa winning 19, Pakistan winning four, one match tied, and one ending in a no-result.

Left-arm spinner Nashra Sundhu, who performed impressively in the T20I series, expressed confidence in her team’s abilities, saying, “Our recent 3-0 victory in the T20I series against South Africa was a fantastic confidence booster for the team. We are well aware that South Africa is a formidable opponent in the ODI format, and we are ready to face the challenge.”

South Africa’s all-rounder Marizanne Kapp, who has had success against Pakistan in the past, is looking forward to the ODI series and believes that her team has the potential to perform well in these conditions.
