After the session, Haris was accorded a warm reception by Deputy Speaker Durrani and Convener of the SDGs Parliamentary Task Force, Romina Khurshid, who presented him with a commemorative shield to mark the occasion.
This recognition adds to Haris Rauf’s growing list of achievements. Earlier this year, the Islamabad Police honored him with the rank of honorary Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) for his remarkable achievements in the field of cricket.
Haris Rauf’s meteoric rise to prominence began when he was discovered during open trials organized by the two-time Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions, Lahore Qalandars. The franchise recognized his raw talent and invested in his development, sending him to Australia as part of their player development program. Haris also had the opportunity to showcase his skills in the renowned Big Bash League (BBL) before making his T20I debut for Pakistan in 2020.
With time, Haris Rauf became synonymous with Lahore Qalandars and emerged as a key figure in Pakistan’s bowling lineup alongside fellow speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi. His exceptional performances have solidified his position as the team’s leading fast bowler.
Haris, together with Shaheen, played pivotal roles in Lahore Qalandars’ consecutive PSL title victories. The franchise, which initially faced challenges in the tournament, made a remarkable comeback, securing back-to-back titles in the last two years. Under the captaincy of Shaheen, the Qalandars triumphed in PSL seven and eight, winning both championships at their home ground. On both occasions, they defeated the Multan Sultans in thrilling finals.
As Haris Rauf takes on the role of Goodwill Ambassador, his remarkable journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring cricketers and showcases the potential for talent development and growth within Pakistan’s cricketing landscape.
