In a significant blow to Pakistan’s chances, Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan’s star opener and Player of the Final of ICC Champions Trophy 2017, will not be traveling with the team to Dubai for their highly-anticipated match against India. This development comes after Zaman suffered an injury during Pakistan’s Champions Trophy 2025 opener against New Zealand in Karachi.
Zaman’s injury occurred while he was fielding, as he landed awkwardly while chasing a boundary. He was seen signaling for medical assistance and later left the field, holding his lower back.
The extent of Zaman’s injury is yet to be officially confirmed, but his absence from the Pakistan vs India match is a significant concern for the team. Pakistan will now have to rely on other key players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to step up and fill the void left by Zaman’s absence.
As for potential replacements, three players who could fill Zaman’s spot in the squad are Abdullah Shafique, Mohammad Haris, and Imam-ul-Haq . However, no official announcement has been made regarding Zaman’s replacement.
