Ever since Dolly Darling started, our excitement knew no limits — only to be sky-rocketing high with each episode. It steadily climbed the popularity charts, and rightfully so. A hilarious comic family entertainer quickly turned out to be one of the most beautiful slices of sitcoms to have produced by 7th Sky Entertainment. The audience and TRP’s went bonkers over this unusual and unpredictable comedy. Directed by Muhammad Iftikhar (Iffi), Dolly Darling had a promising cast — all of them known for their acting chops, especially in the genre of comedy. The show has concluded; here are five reasons why it will be sorely missed.
Nadia Khan’s and Aijaz Aslam’s camaraderie
The very first and apparent reason why we loved Dolly Darling was the leading pair, Nadia Khan’s and Aijaz Aslam’s chemistry left us ROFL-ing. Mustaqeem as the victimized husband was at the logger’s head with Dolly solving issues and havocs that left the audience in splits. Their heart-winning performances were one of the reasons behind its success. A special mention to Nadia’s performance as any project that stars her turns out to be fabulous; it’s like the actor has got the Midas touch where comedy is concerned! The versatile actress can pull off any character with utmost grace and perfection.
Quirky, and humorous dialogues
Dolly Darling was not based on the tried and tested formula of a comedy sitcom. It was full of conversations that tickled our funny bone. The punchlines were appreciated for their humorous and dramatic content. The compelling script by Dr. Younis Butt didn’t require actors to be pretense or make unnecessary funny faces to create laughter. It was an unpredictable comedy that kept us glued to our TV screens until the very end of each episode. It wasn’t just a light-hearted or subtle but a broad-minded comedy. There were no below-the-belt or double meaning dialogues that made it an entire household entertainer.
Dependable Supporting Cast
The success of any project depends not just on the story and interesting characters but getting the right people for the job as well. And Dolly Darling managed to do that correctly. The two supporting characters that well connected with us were Uroosa Siddique and Ali Rizvi. These two made quite an impression; they were adequate and left a strong mark. They provided strong support to take the narrative forward.
Pakistan’s most expensive comedy series
Not only Dolly Darling grew to become the talk of the country for its quirky content material, but it also set a new benchmark as far as the production value was concerned. Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi left no stone unturned to facilitate the actors, costumes, locations, and budgets. Everything was at par as of a drama serial. And the result was a guaranteed amusing riot.
Family Entertainer
From a 10-year-old kid to senior citizens, Dolly Darling promised to be a treat for audiences across all ages. It had bone-tickling one-liners, interesting characters along with much-needed unique content. The script, as well as the direction, was excellent. It was nothing less than a total family package!
