Former captain Javeria Khan Bids Farewell to International Cricket

In a heartfelt announcement, Javeria Khan, one of Pakistan’s most illustrious cricketers, has officially retired from international cricket after a remarkable career spanning 15 years. The announcement comes as a significant moment for the cricketing fraternity, marking the end of an era for women’s cricket in Pakistan.

Javeria made her mark on the international stage in 2008, debuting in a Women’s Asia Cup fixture against Sri Lanka. Over the course of her career, she represented Pakistan in 228 international matches, leaving an indelible impact with her formidable batting prowess and occasional bowling contributions.

During her tenure, Javeria amassed a staggering total of 4,903 runs, including two centuries and 25 half-centuries, making her the second leading run-scorer for Pakistan in both ODIs and T20Is. Notably, she stands as the only women’s cricketer from Pakistan to have surpassed the 2,000-run mark in each format, alongside the esteemed Bismah Maroof.

Her achievements extend beyond the statistical realm, as Javeria played a pivotal role in major tournaments, representing Pakistan in four 50-over World Cups and all eight editions of the T20 World Cup. Her contributions were instrumental in Pakistan’s success, including their triumphs at the Asian Games in 2010 and 2014.

As a leader, Javeria exemplified resilience and determination, captaining Pakistan in 17 ODIs and 16 T20Is, including two ICC Women’s T20 World Cups. Her leadership qualities and dedication to the game earned her widespread respect among peers and fans alike.
