Geo TV’s Qayamat ends on a sad note

7th Sky Entertainment’s popular drama serial Qayamat came to an end last night with some bittersweet and emotional moments. Rashid, played brilliantly by Ahsan Khan, confessed to his sins and wrongdoings after seeing death so closely. His mother Nargis also realizes how wrong she was all along and asks Ifrah for forgiveness after seeing Rashid in such a state.

Directed by Ali Faizan, penned by Sarwat Nazeer, and produced by the dynamic duo of Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi, Qayamat had people hooked to it till its end. While we saw growth of some of the characters earlier, we had to wait till the last episode to see Rashid and his mother’s transformation. Surviving such a fatal encounter made Rashid remorseful and led him to not just confess to his sins but also attempt making amends. He asks Ifrah and Jawwad to start a new life together as they both loved each other. However, Ifrah refuses and states that he had no right to decide her future and that she would never want such a weak man like Jawwad in her life.

The serial, however, had an open ending allowing the viewers to imagine the end after the conversation that Rashid had with Ifrah and Jawwad. Rashid imagines that Ifrah forgives him and living happily with her but we are not shown what Ifrah decides. It was a sad ending for all the leading characters in Qayamat but the serial showed convincingly that you always reap what you sow.

Qayamat at the core, banked heavily on its strong script, excellent execution, and brilliant direction value. The lead actors Neelum Munir and Ahsan Khan gave phenomenal performances to make their characters memorable ones. Both the actors owned their characters completely and gave Ifrah and Rashid the treatment they required while the supporting characters also did justice to their roles. No wonder the serial had terrific mass appeal that set the TRP calculators on fire throughout the course of the drama. Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi led 7th Sky Entertainment and the entire team of Qayamat deserve appreciation for bringing to us such an intriguing serial that will live with us for a long time. We will definitely miss the double dose of entertainment we used to get every week.
