GNMI conducted a workshop on Safe Charity Reporting at CEJ-IBA

Nationally acclaimed broadcast journalist and JSK Fellow15 at Stanford, Najia Ashar has launched her new project under the title of Global Neighbourhood For Media Innovation (GNMI).

GNMI on Monday conducted a workshop for journalists on ‘Reporting Safe Charity Practices’ at CEJ-IBA. It was a highly interactive and dynamic workshop for journalists on “Safe Charity Practices and Role of Media”, the aim of the workshop was to raise awareness among the those who contribute generously during the holy month of Ramzan and following Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha. The story-lines were developed to ensure that charity donations given during Ramazan go to genuine people or welfare organizations and not into the wrong hands.

There was a dedicated segment of the workshop where the participants had a chance to present storytelling skills and practices on Safe Charity Reporting workshop. The engagement and discussion by workshop participants and commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes were noticeable.

While talking about the workshop Founder and President GNMI, Najia Ashar said

“This is the extension of my JSK15 project at Stanford where I worked on journalists’ safety and security issues. Global Neighbourhood for Media Innovation is an innovative and constructive platform for media professionals for sharing skills, articulate thinking and constructive analysis of contemporary issues that Pakistani media faces today.”

At the end of the workshop, participants were handed over their certificates.
