Google has collaborated with Daraz.pk, to host the Tech Mela, a mega online tech shopping festival, live from September 11th to September 20th at Google Tech Mela
This is the first time Google is involved in an online shopping festival in Pakistan, with exclusive product launches and deals from the world’s major tech brands. Tech Mela aims to bring all leading smartphone and telecommunication companies together, offering them a common platform with the best deals and discounts possible.
The shopping mela will have 11 top mobility brands, namely Samsung, Microsoft, Huawei, PTCL, Rivo, TPL tracker, Innjoo, Infinix, Intex, Telenor and Zong, launching their latest phones and offering their best deals and discounts of up to 30% off on smartphones, gadgets and data and voice plans that will only be available on Daraz.pk across Pakistan for 10 days.
Speaking on the occasion, Jonathan Doerr, Co-CEO of Daraz Asia said, “Tech Mela is your gateway to the biggest online tech shopping festival. As the leader of online shopping in the country, we’re delighted to partner with Google to help further propel the ecommerce industry by launching the latest smartphones exclusively and bringing the best deals from the world’s major brands to our valued customers in Pakistan.”
With this event, Google and Daraz.pk aim to support the vibrant and growing culture of online shopping in the country. The mobile phone industry is taking off, 3G/4G subscribers crossed 13 million in April, 2015 and with millions of online users looking to buy a phone every month, Tech Mela is an exciting platform to raise awareness and consumer adoption of ecommerce in Pakistan.
“Pakistan’s mobile industry is really taking off with more and more people coming online and using their smartphones as their primary Internet device,” said Tania Aidrus, Country Manager South Asia Frontier at Google. “It is absolutely the right time to hold this virtual shopping festival just before the traditional holiday and festive period of Eid-ul-Adha and what better way than to hold it completely online where the next wave of buyers will be congregating.”
“The majority of digital consumers in Pakistan are already researching online to decide which device to purchase, and for the most part they find online resources more relevant and credible,” added Tania. “Tech Mela is an initiative to complete the research and purchase loop, and we hope the exclusive deals will spur greater acceptance of e-commerce among even more Pakistanis.”
