In a thrilling encounter at the Bohranwali Cricket Ground in Faisalabad, Multan registered a commanding 141-run victory over Rawalpindi in the second round match of the National Women’s One-Day Tournament.
Multan’s opening batter, Gull Feroza, was the star of the show, smashing a magnificent century to set the tone for her team’s imposing total. Feroza’s splendid knock of 142 runs came off just 140 balls and was adorned with an impressive 19 boundaries. Her remarkable innings propelled Multan to a formidable total of 240 for seven in their allotted 50 overs. Rabia Rafi provided valuable support with a contribution of 35 runs. Rawalpindi’s skipper, Humna Bilal, was the standout bowler for her side, claiming three wickets for 25 runs.
In response, Rawalpindi faced a daunting task against Multan’s bowling attack. Noor-ul-Iman and Tasmia Rubab led the bowling charge, sharing five wickets between them. Noor-ul-Iman impressed with figures of three for 23, while Tasmia Rubab chipped in with two wickets for 19 runs. Rawalpindi struggled to build partnerships and were eventually bowled out for just 99 runs in 25.5 overs, handing Multan a resounding victory.
Quetta Clinches Hard-Fought Win Over Peshawar
At the Iqbal Stadium, Quetta emerged victorious in a closely contested match against Peshawar. Batting first, Quetta posted a competitive total of 175 runs, with Arijah Haseeb top-scoring with 46 runs and Rameen Shamim contributing 27 runs to the total. Peshawar’s bowling attack put up a spirited effort, with Momina Riyasat, Aleena Shah, and Mahnoor Aftab claiming two wickets each.
In response, Peshawar fought valiantly but fell short of the target, bowled out for 159 runs in 47 overs. Tayyaba Imad top-scored for Peshawar with 44 runs, while Ayesha Zafar contributed 22 runs. However, Quetta’s Rameen Shamim proved to be the difference-maker, delivering a superb bowling performance to claim four wickets for just 19 runs. With her outstanding display, Shamim played a pivotal role in securing victory for her team.
Lahore Prevails in Thrilling Super Over Finish Against Karachi
At the Jawad Sports Complex Ground, Lahore and Karachi engaged in a nail-biting encounter that ended in a dramatic tie, leading to a thrilling Super Over finish. Lahore posted a total of 138 runs for the loss of four wickets in 43 overs, with Iram Javed remaining unbeaten on 49 runs. However, rain interrupted play, and when the match resumed, Karachi was set a revised target of 167 runs to win in 43 overs.
Karachi fought hard but fell agonizingly short, bowled out for 166 runs in 43 overs. Esha Rahupoto and Yusra Amir were the standout performers with the bat for Karachi, scoring 35 and 34 runs, respectively. Lahore’s Quratulain and Noreen were the pick of the bowlers, claiming three wickets each.
In the Super Over, Lahore held their nerve to achieve the two-run target in just four balls without losing any wickets, securing a thrilling victory in a match filled with excitement and drama.
