Gull Feroza’s Heroics Lead Pakistan to Ten-Wicket Triumph Over UAE in Women’s Asia Cup T20

Opener Gull Feroza’s stellar performance with the bat steered Pakistan Women to a comprehensive ten-wicket victory over United Arab Emirates (UAE) Women in their Women’s Asia Cup T20 2024 encounter at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Tuesday. This win significantly boosts Pakistan’s chances of securing a semi-final berth.

Choosing to field first, Pakistan’s bowlers dominated early, restricting UAE to 103-8 in their allotted 20 overs. In response, Pakistan chased down the target with ease, reaching 107 without loss in just 14.1 overs, leaving 35 balls to spare.

Gull Feroza, continuing her excellent form from the previous match against Nepal, struck her second consecutive half-century. She scored an unbeaten 62, a career-best performance, from 55 balls, including eight boundaries. Her opening partner, Muneeba Ali, also shone with an unbeaten 37 off 30 balls, featuring four boundaries. The pair put together a flawless 107-run partnership, marking their second consecutive century stand after their 105-run effort in the previous game.

The UAE Women’s batting lineup struggled against the disciplined Pakistan bowling attack. Theertha Satish top-scored with 40 runs, while Esha Oza and Khushi Sharma contributed 16 and 12 runs, respectively. The UAE innings never gained momentum, thanks to the effective Pakistan bowling.

Sadia Iqbal, Nashra Sundhu, and Tuba Hassan were the standout bowlers for Pakistan, each claiming two wickets. Sadia Iqbal finished with figures of 2-11, Tuba Hassan took 2-17, and Nashra Sundhu picked up 2-22.
