Hanif Mohammad Trophy 2023-24, Round 5 – Mohsin Riaz Shines with Unbeaten Century as Sialkot and Islamabad Play Out a Draw

On the last day of the round five match that unfolded at the Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium, Sialkot’s Mohsin Riaz delivered a stunning unbeaten century on the final day, leading his team to a draw against Islamabad in the Hanif Mohammad Trophy 2023-24.

Sialkot started the day with a tough task at hand, trailing by 270 runs in their second innings. With a score of 21 for one, they had their work cut out. However, Mohsin Riaz, Mohammad Waleed, and Fahad Jamil exhibited remarkable resilience.

Mohsin Riaz led the charge with an unbeaten century, scoring 103 runs from 185 balls, including eight boundaries and two sixes. Mohammad Waleed contributed a vital 72 not out from 126 deliveries, and Fahad Jamil added 48 runs to the total.

Sialkot posted a substantial 298 runs in 96 overs, losing five wickets in the process. Umair Afridi took two wickets for Islamabad, while Haris Hassan, Syed Khizer Shah, and Mohammad Arsal Sheikh each grabbed one.

The match ended in a draw after Sialkot’s valiant effort with the bat.

  • Abbottabad triumphed over Hyderabad: Abbottabad clinched a victory over Hyderabad by three wickets. Hyderabad posted scores of 77 and 313, while Abbottabad managed to chase down a target of 122 runs in the final innings.
  • Karachi Blues outshone Bahawalpur: Karachi Blues defeated Bahawalpur by 51 runs. Karachi Blues posted scores of 178 and 228 in their innings, and Bahawalpur responded with scores of 192 and 228.
