In a blow to both Lahore Qalandars and Pakistan’s bowling arsenal, Haris Rauf, the fiery fast bowler, has been ruled out for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season after suffering a dislocated shoulder during a high-octane clash against Karachi Kings.
The incident occurred in the 20th over of the match when Rauf, in a moment of brilliance, completed a stunning catch to dismiss Hasan Ali. However, he fell awkwardly on his shoulder, resulting in the injury. Despite the pain, Rauf managed to walk off the field with his arm strapped and later underwent scans, which revealed the extent of the damage.
Rauf’s performance in the match had been exceptional, with his four overs being the most economical of the night, conceding only 22 runs while also snatching a crucial wicket. His absence in the final overs due to injury added to the challenge for Lahore Qalandars in their narrow defeat against Karachi Kings.
The medical panel, after careful evaluation, has advised a recovery period of four to six weeks for Rauf, prompting the decision to sideline him for the rest of the PSL season. Sameen Rana, the Team Director of Lahore Qalandars, emphasized that while it’s not a major injury, Rauf’s significance to both the team and the national side couldn’t be overlooked.
Captain Shaheen Afridi expressed the team’s disappointment at Rauf’s injury, highlighting his pivotal role in the squad and pledging solidarity in his absence. Despite the setback, Afridi remains optimistic about the team’s prospects, rallying them to rise to the occasion in the upcoming matches.
Acknowledging the setback, the franchise and team management prioritized Rauf’s long-term well-being, especially considering Pakistan’s busy cricketing calendar ahead. They expressed their support for Rauf’s recovery journey, eagerly awaiting his return to the field stronger than ever.
