Hosting a Ramazan show is not just putting my makeup and dupatta on: Samia Liaqat

Ace news anchor and face of Dawn News, Samia Liaqat is set to add another feather to her hat as she is going to host the Ramazan special transmission of the channel.

Dawn News is one of the few channels who are going to have the Ramazan Transmission this year. Samia who is also a senior anchor of the channel is going to host her maiden Ramazan transmission this year.

While talking to MediaSpringPK Samia said:

“It feels really good to be hosting my first Ramazan show at the same time I do realize that it is a big responsibility. For such an assignment can not afford to come on screen with half cooked information. I believe this will be great learning experience for me as I will be learning a lot more about our beautiful religion in the process of providing the information to the viewers. Hosting such show is not just about sitting in front of TV camera with my make up and dupatta on, It is a responsibility that demands serious homework, which is necessary for such noble and educational cause.”

Talking about the format of the show Samia said:

“We will be going to have a female religious scholar, Tib-e-Nabwi experts, and a chef in the pre Iftar segment. In post iftar segment we will be having religious scholars to answer religious questions from the viewers.”

Samia thinks that it is tough time due to Covid-19 and we all are worried about, Ramazan is going to be different this year. She said:

“Ramazan is a month of blessings and it is coming on us in a testing time. I hope and pray that we get the best of this blessed month and the Almighty keep us safe from COVID-19 and shower his blessings upon the humanity.”

Samia Liaqat started her broadcast journalism career in 2010 with channel 5, and later she joined Sach TV. In 2012, she moved to Karachi and joined Dawn News in 2012. In October 2015, Samia left Dawn News to move back to her hometown Lahore and was part of the pioneer news anchoring team of 24 News. She anchored various transmissions during her stint with the channel. In August 2016, Samia rejoined Dawn News. Samia Liaqat holds a degree in graphic designing from the University of Punjab.
