HSY’s Acting Debut Calls For An Encore

We’ve known him as one of the best designers in the industry today, as a talk show host and an iconic superstar with a golden touch. However, his exceptional acting has won our hearts in the most unexpected way, through the most seemingly rigid character.

Hassan Sheheryar Yasin aka HSY’s remarkable performance as Akram in ‘Pehli Si Mohabbat’ needs nothing short of a standing ovation. The debutante proved his ability by transforming into a character completely unlike himself effortlessly.

The icon has received tonnes of praise from fans, celebrities and critics alike for his brilliant showmanship as he sinks into his character to the point where he is unrecognizable (without the need of a costume). Akram, as an orthodox patriarch, could have been seen as one of the antagonists, ready to make trouble for the rest, but his evolution throughout the series has given audiences that sweet relief they’ve been looking for.

What’s super commendable about HSY is that whenever he takes something on, he’ll put his entire heart into it and this role was no different. At the start of the series, Akram was a very strong character who seemed quite tough with a fury that no one would want to cross.

As the series progressed, we got to see his softer side. This range of emotion was expressed with so much zeal that through each passing scene audiences could not wait to see what Akram would do next. Where we were once afraid of seeing the patriarch on screen, we could now empathise with his grievances.

In the most recent episodes several dimensions of Akram unraveled. It was clear that he was more than just a headstrong man who could not stand when anyone challenged his mindset, he was someone who (although quite flawed as a person) was trying to do what he could to protect his family. As the series nears its close we could feel his remorse and anguish over his sister Zainab’s death through the screen.

However you feel about Akram at this point in the series, no one can deny that HSY’s portrayal really made his character one to remember. He truly embodied the role flawlessly and made it his own.

HSY has officially made his mark on the small screen with his brilliant performance. Here’s hoping we can see more of acting in the future!
