Pakistan Shaheens had a stunning opening day of the first four-day match against Zimbabwe A, finishing at 352 for two at the Kwekwe Sports Club. Winning the toss, Zimbabwe A’s captain Roy Kaia chose to put Shaheens into bat after an hour delay due to a wet outfield. In the second over, Imran Butt was caught in the slips off Faraz Akram for just three runs.
However, right-handed batter Mohammad Huraira and Omair Bin Yousuf ensured that it was a day of dominance for Pakistan Shaheens. The duo shared a brilliant 339-run partnership for the second wicket, with Huraira hitting 178 off 188 deliveries, including 14 fours and six sixes. Omair remained unbeaten at 161 off 232 balls, striking 16 fours and one six.
Despite Kaia trying eight bowlers, including himself, the pair kept the run-rate above five. Huraira was dismissed just seven overs before stumps, but Omair stayed put.
Scores at the end of day one:
Pakistan Shaheens 352-2, 73 overs (Mohammad Huraira 178, Omair Bin Yousuf 161*)
