“She created a life she loved” this phrase seems perfect for News Anchor and broadcast journalist Hina Adil Khan who is currently associated with Express News. Hina is one of the newest faces of our news media industry but at the same time, she is one of the prominent ones who have a long way to go in the field.
We had a chit-chat with the news anchor and broadcast journalist and she spoke fondly about her work, career, family and motherhood. “The mantra is simple, just do not take your work home and do not bring home to your workplace,” said Hina Adil Khan while talking about creating work-life balance, “Otherwise you can’t give your best at both places. So I’m an anchor at work and a wife & mother at home,” she added.
Hina recently returned to the screen of Express News after her maternity leave, while talking about her motherhood experience so far she said that her child has brought so much positivity in her life:
“Life as a mother is like being on a constant roller-coaster ride. So how do I answer that question honestly? How do I explain that Feeling in words?
“It feels like life is just so much better and so perfect now Alhamdulillah, literally when I am with this tiny creature it is almost as if everything is right in the world and there is nothing wrong.”
Hina who is part of the news anchoring team of Express News was missed by the viewers when she was absent but when asked if she missed the camera and news studio she was again out of words to express her excitement on getting back to the studio, “honestly, I am not able to describe my feelings in words. During my break, I did miss my studio a lot.” Said the news anchor. She further said that during her break she was anxiously waiting to face the camera again:
“In those days it was like that I just can’t wait to be in lights and camera once again. I was actually counting days!”
Hina Adil Khan who was previously known as Hina Naseem started her career a couple of years back and in short period of time, she has established herself as one fine news anchor who has a long way to go. She gives credit to her family for her success so far, “you know family support matters a lot in a working woman’s life. I thank the Almighty who has given such a supportive family. My father supported me and gave me confidence in every possible way and now I am glad that my husband always stands by my side Alhamdulillah.” Talking about her husband who also works at Express News and experience as a working woman post-wedding, she said:
“It’s easier for him to understand my situation because we both are from the same field, therefore he knows the challenges of the job. He is treating me so well.”
Hina did her bachelors from Punjab College with major in accounting but later changed her path to mass communication for her masters. She was picked by Dunya News in a talent hut programme while she was in her second semester, “so that is how my journey as a broadcast journalist started, I was trained at Dunya News while the network was working on launching their regional channel, Lahore News HD. I am honoured to be part of the pioneer team of Lahore News.”
While talking about her transition from a regional channel to a national screen Hina said:
“After a few month’s of working with Lahore News, I felt that I should try for national screen and again my luck. Hence I gave an audition at Express and got a job there. I think there is no alternative to passion when there is passion hard work comes in naturally and as they say luck runs out hard work pays off.”
Hina says that everyone is very supportive and helpful at Express News, “I am honoured to be a part of Express News family.”
Experience of working in media, the charm of screen and fame tends to change us while asking if media has changed her she said that it only changed her temperament:
“The News media has not changed me as a person but yet it changed my temperament. I feel that now I am more patient and straightforward. I think it is good to be that way. Also, my work experience in the media has made me more strong and fearless. Sometimes I feel that I am made for this line and the hot seat is being made for me. I can proudly say that I am a broadcast journalist.”
