Imad Wasim Retires from International Cricket After Tumultuous Comeback

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim has announced his retirement from international cricket, marking the end of a career that saw flashes of brilliance across all formats. The 35-year-old, known for his left-arm spin and dynamic batting, made the announcement on social media, expressing gratitude for his time in the green jersey.

“Representing Pakistan on the world stage has been the greatest honor of my life, and every moment wearing the green jersey has been unforgettable,” Imad wrote.

Imad had previously retired from international cricket in 2023 but was persuaded to return for the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean earlier this year. Despite a stellar Pakistan Super League campaign where he was named player of the match in three consecutive playoff games, Pakistan endured a disappointing World Cup run, failing to secure a Super 8 berth.

Since then, Imad has not been picked for international assignments, prompting his decision to focus solely on domestic and franchise cricket. Over his career, Imad was celebrated for his match-winning performances, particularly in the T20 format, and his leadership as a former captain of Karachi Kings in the PSL.

PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmad Syed extended his gratitude to Imad, saying, “His contributions to Pakistan cricket will always be remembered. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Imad, who has played 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is, will now continue to showcase his skills in leagues worldwide, leaving a lasting legacy in Pakistan cricket.
