The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved Imam-ul-Haq as a replacement for injured opener Fakhar Zaman in the Pakistan squad for the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025.
Fakhar Zaman was ruled out of the tournament due to an oblique injury, and the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 has given the green light for Imam-ul-Haq to join the Pakistan squad.
The 29-year-old Imam-ul-Haq has played 72 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and brings a wealth of experience to the Pakistan team. He is expected to slot into the opening position vacated by Fakhar Zaman.
The replacement was approved by the Event Technical Committee, which consists of Wasim Khan (ICC General Manager – Cricket), Sarah Edgar (ICC Senior Manager – Events), Usman Wahla (PCB Director – International Cricket Operations), and Shaun Pollock (Independent Representative).
Pakistan will face India in their next match in Dubai, and Imam-ul-Haq’s inclusion in the squad will provide a boost to the team’s batting lineup.
