Indonesian Consul General to Karachi Hadi Santoso hosted a trade discussion with dynamic women entrepreneurs and professionals of the LADIESFUND network. Held at the Indonesian Consulate, the interactive discussion included presentations by Oktorian Hakim, Vice Consul for Economic Affairs of the Indonesian Consulate, as well as Shamoon Zaki, Chairman of the Pakistan Indonesia Business Forum. Examples were given of successful interactions, but also challenges discussed such as that, according to Mr. Santoso, Pakistan has not yet held a Trade Exhibition in Jakarta, although the Indonesian Consulate has held one in Karachi.
“We welcome interactions such as these and want to strengthen trade relations between our countries,”
stated Mr. Santoso.
“This meeting is the continuation of our long-standing relationship with the Indonesians to build trade opportunities for women entrepreneurs in our two countries. In the past, LADIESFUND has partnered with the Indonesian Consulate to bringIndrijati Inawangsih Bachitiar to be a keynote speaker at our annual LADIESFUND Entrepreneurship Conference (LEC) as well as a delegation of Indonesian women entrepreneurs to attend our trainings. We have also partnered twice for cultural dance performances at our events. Now, our focus is to put together a LADIESFUND trade exhibition to be held in Jakarta,”

LADIESFUND members introduced themselves one by one and spoke about their specific trade vision for their brands. Attendees at the event included KPMG Partner Moneeza Butt, Varah Musavvir (Firefly), Nazli Abid (Bells n Bells), Fouzia Tariq (consulant), Jehanara Khan (Strategic Solutions) and Sadaf Kazmi (Wrappings and More).
In addition to discussing trade opportunities, Butt offered to seconder KPMG employees to Indonesia as well as to engage her firm’s tax specialists to help with specific audit needs that may arise from trade. LADIESFUND also offered to organize multi-brand booths for Indonesian trade opportunities and requested the Consulate to keep the organization abreast should franchise opportunities become available.
