Sohai Ali Abro is one of those stars of our showbiz industry who made their mark in a very short span of time. Sohai started her career as a model, she did many commercials such as Shan Pickle and Mobilink, and in fact she is one of those very few models who did ads for both Coca Cola and Pepsi.
Sohai Ali Abro made her acting debut with Geo TV serial Saat Pardon Mein opposite Mikaal Zulfiqar and Alyy Khan. She made her film debut with Yasir Nawaz’s 2013 telefilm Anjuman opposite Imran Abbas, Sara Loren and Alyy Khan. She bagged nomination for a Tarang Housefull Awards in the Best Supporting Actress category. Her first screen venture – Wrong No is all set to release on this Eid ul Fitar.
Sohai was in Lahore earlier this week for the promotion of her film Wrong No, where team Media Spring Pk got chance to interview her, here is the conversation we had with her. Team Media Spring Pk wishes Sohai all the best for her film Wrong No, and her all future projects.
Tell us something about your Educational background and were you always wanted to be an actress?
Sohai: Yes I always wanted to be an actress, I have done intermediate till my true calling came my way, which is acting.
Is anyone in your family in showbiz or are you the first one?
Sohai: So far I am the first one to join showbiz
How was your experience of working in this film?
Sohai: In one word the whole experience was awesome. I totally enjoyed every bit of it, it certainly was an enjoyable as well as learning experience.
How is the feel of becoming a showbiz star in such a short span of time?
Sohai: ٰAt times it all looks very surreal to me, I feel overwhelming on all the fame I have got so far and it is all because of our fans who appreciate our work. I am really grateful to my fans.
What medium do you enjoy most? TV? or Film?
Sohai: I enjoy both, films as well as TV. I believe every medium has its own merits, I even love theater as well.
How would you compare Pyarey Afzal with Wrong number?
Sohai: This is a very tough question, I think you cannot compare them at all.
Do you think your dance skills helped you in your showbiz career?
Sohai: I believe that very skill counts, you have to be an allrounder with multiple skill sets to make a career in showbiz.
Future plans, do you see Bollywood on your list?
Sohai: I do not subscribe the idea of making plans, I take each day as it comes.
Dream character that you would like to play?
Sohai: Begum Bilquis Edhi – that is one character that I would love to do she is an inspirational human being.
Talking about inspiration, what is your source of inspiration?
Sohai: Everyone I meet inspires me in some way or other, therefore, I never limit my inspiration to one person or source only inspiration is something that can come to you from anyone or anything it is just about picking it at right time.
How would you describe the environment in Pakistan TV and film industry? is the feel same or different?
Sohai: To me it’s my scond home and everyone is part of my family, that is why I dont feel much difference in the environment I feel at home in both film industry and TV industry.
How did you end up doing this role in Wrong no.?
Sohai: Yasir sent me the script, I fell in love with the character from the first page and I said yes! Rest is a known history now
Do you see Pakistani cinema rising?
Sohai: Hell yeah, it will rise to the new glory in a very short span of time, we might not be making as many movies as compared to other industries in the region but we have shown quality in our work, and it is quality that helps in longer run.
Favorite color?
Sohai: Golden is my favorite color, and I find it a bit unique choice for that matter.
What do you do in your spare time?
Sohai: I some times really wonder what’s spare time?
