[Interview] In conversation with Saeeda Imtiaz about her film Wajood

Saeed Imtiaz is a model turned film star who is better known for her yet to release film Kaptaan. Saeeda who graduated from Stony Brook University wih a degree in Psychology is these days promoting her upcoming film Wajood. We got chance to ask her a few questions and here is what Saeeda Imtaz said in response to our questions.

1. Wajood – Whose existence is this film about? Tell us how excited or nervous you are about this project?

Saeeda: For that, you all will have to watch the film. I’m definitely very excited about this film but not as such nervous just because I have my team backing me up.

2. What was one factor that made you sign Wajood? Your first reaction on being offered this film?

SI: The living legend Javaid Sheikh off course and the script itself. I was utterly happy deep down my soul yet felt like a dream come true.

3. How was the experience of working alongside legendary Javed Sheikh?
SI: I feel so blessed to have the chance of working with him. He is such a sweet person so down to earth and so calm by his soul. I have done 16 to 18 retakes in two scenes but he didn’t utter a single word except action cut with a cool calm style of his own. Just love him.

4. Tell us about your role, who is she? how is she as a character did she challenge acting skills of Saeeda?

SI: Well she is as similar to my own character. I’m very cool and calm soul until I am nudged to a point where I speak up rudely.

So the character somewhat resembles me at some points, having said that a few scenes were challenging as they were scripted on five long pages it was indeed not an easy task.

5. You were part of a major project which is long due, Kaptaan. What do you think how frustrating it is for an artist when a project gets delayed like that?

SI: Oh my… Its still is frustrating. Haha I won’t be in a content mode until it actually releases. I think its very unfair for an artist if the film doesn’t release as per the plan.

6. How is this project different than your previous work be it modeling or acting?

SI: Modeling is where you have to express yourself without any dialogue whereas acting is all verbal and action. My previous work in Kaptaan is totally a different genre and Wajood is totally a masalah film that revolves around relationships love revenge hatred and so on.

7. Any particular moment from the film or any incident on the sets of Wajood that you would like to share with us?

SI: I prank on sets and I pranked the director Javaid Sheikh twice on sets, which was hilarious for all of us.

8. Who is your favorite character, besides yours, in the film Wajood?

SI: I guess ALL as we all worked like a family. I prefer working as a team with no jealousy factor or negative vibes around.

9. What is one particular thing about Wajood that you think audience will like the most?

SI: The script itself. The storyline of the film.

10. We truly wish you all the best for this project, having said that would we be seeing Saeeda Imtiaz the actress on screen more often after this?

SI: Touchwood hopefully yes.

11. Any message for your fans and readers of MediaSpring Pk?

SI: Keep loving and keep supporting.
